Displaced Orphans International Photo Gallery
In 2008 there were 8 of us that traveled to Thailand. Greg & Lynnette Wineman led the team: Cassie & Errol Lupien (Lynnette's Business partner & great friends), Zach Wineman, Amanda Reeves, Marielle Reeves (Greg & Lynnette's kids) & Monique deQuilettes. Monique is the daughter of Don & Holli deQuilettes (founders of Freedom Fest) and the great niece of Gerda & Frits deQuilettes (Founders of Manna Foundation-outreaching to orphan children in Thailand for the last 14 years) Cassie was added to the board of directors of DOI after our return.
It was an amazing experience to have our kids interact with the indigenous people of Thailand. Our children were able to get a first hand look at most of the orphanages and projects DOI is currently involved in. It was put upon our hearts that education is paramount to the direction God is leading DOI. It is probable that DOI will become involved in a large school just outside of Wiang Pa Pao. Between the direct interdiction to human trafficking that our facilities allow and the bright future that education provides we have been made aware that our cause should direct itself towards healthy alternatives for our children. Lacking the healthy alternatives DOI provides these children would be at very high risk to human trafficking. We had the great privilege to meet with 30 refugee children and an amazing woman named Meredith just outside the border camp in Mae Hong Son. We were hoping to have passage into the camp however in December a 17 & 14 year old boy were shot and killed inside the camp and the gates were closed. These children literally snuck beneath barb-wired fence to meet us at a safe house to bless us. They sang songs, recited scripture and performed a nativity play for us. We fell in love with each of them and now send funds monthly to help feed and clothe them. We are actively looking for help with sponsorship here. Please download this prayer card and consider individual sponsorship for just $30 per month. |
